Project HEAL (Help to Eat, Accept and Live) is the largest non-profit in the United States (US) delivering prevention, treatment financing, and recovery support for people suffering from eating disorders. Since its founding in 2008, Project HEAL has sent 72 applicants to treatment, established over 40 Chapters and 11 Ambassadors across the United States, Canada, Australia, and England, and developed partnerships with more than 30 recognized eating disorder treatment centers across the US and internationally. The primary function of Chapters is to bring the mission and values of Project HEAL to a local community, including hosting fundraising events for our treatment grant program, educating their community about eating disorders and recovery, promote body positivity, serve as a testament that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible. Additionally, we recently expanded our mission to allow us to help even more people by launching our new peer-led support program which is facilitated through our Chapters.
We are an organization with a large volunteer base and have many volunteer opportunities available year-round. We are always looking for new people who have an interest in and passion for helping others suffering from eating disorders, poor body image, and low self-esteem.
Communities of HEALing (COH) is looking for peer mentors Are you recovered from an eating disorder and looking for a way to support others on their recovery journey? Apply to be a peer mentor! Peer Mentors meet one-on-one with a mentee every week to support them in their recovery. No prior experience necessary; we provide the training. What we do ask is that you have the lived experience, a compassionate heart and a minimum of three available hours a week.
