22nd Annual Columbia River Eating Disorder Network Conference

April 27, 2019

Addressing Race in Clinical Practice: Equity and Inclusion in the Treatment of Eating Disorders

When: April 27, 2019, 8 am – 4 pm

Where: Lewis & Clark College, Templeton Student Center, Stamm

5.5 CEUs

As eating disorder professionals, we often work from a behavior change perspective to help our client’s heal their relationship to food and body. However, we must also look through a lens that examines the role systemic oppression plays in the development, maintenance and treatment of eating disorders.

The 2019 Columbia River Eating Disorder Network conference will specifically address racism and disparities for people of color in various professional and clinical contexts. CREDN encourages this years attendees to step into their own understanding of power, privilege and biases—factors affect the clients we are helping. Please join us as we examine historical trauma, health disparities and best practices as we work towards inclusion and equity in the treatment of eating disorders.

We are thrilled to welcome our 2019 Presenters:

Dr. Joy DeGruy, world-renowned writer, speaker and social scientist; Joy Ssebikindu, LPC, Program Director at the Center for Discovery in Atlanta, Georgia; and Malak Saddy, RD, LD, Registered Dietitian at the Center For Discovery in Dallas, Texas.

  • Historical Trauma and Health: The Impacts of Stress on African-American Communities by Dr. Joy DeGruy
  • Best Practices for Building Diversity and Inclusion in the Treatment of Eating Disorders by Malak Saddy, RD, LD and Joy Ssebikindu, LPC

**Online Registration will close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd. Walk-in registrations on the day of the conference are welcome**
