The Role of the RDN in Nutrigenomics

May 16, 2019

Time: 12:00-1:00 pm Eastern Time

As genetic testing becomes more affordable and available to clients, dietitians have a unique opportunity to get involved in offering these services or partnering with companies or doctors who offer them. There are many benefits as well as potential dangers to our patients who may not have a solid understanding about the scope of information that these tests can provide. Dietitian experts Davis and Hultin explore the role of nutrigenomics in current dietetic practice, diving into definitions, types of testing, common genetic variants or “SNPs” that RDs can design interventions around, as well as current scope of practice. This presentation will enhance dietitians’ understanding of the role of nutrigenomics in personalized wellness.
